Hootie is the result of a very special breeding I did based on my experience and intensive studying of breeding practices. I intended to "set" the good qualities of my "Wee Mikey x Wee Bonnie" line, which had culminated in the magnificent Wee Mary Quite Contrary. The litter exceeded my expectations and resulted in my keeping Hoot Mon and sister Wee Merida Mouse Murderer to continue the line.
Hootie, like his sire Wee Jeckle, is a true gentleman; and old soul even as a pup. Gentle and loving, he loves to hold my hand gently in his mouth when greeting me to demonstrate his love. He is highly trainable as well - not always a high point with cairns! LOL!
Hootie and his sister demonstrate the things I had hoped to "set"; great health, great size, great coat and great personality.
I recently had Wee Hoot Mon evaluated by a professional handler who has agreed to show him for me at AKC shows. While I am not a fan of what the show ring does to any dog breed, I would like the public to get a chance to see a NATURAL cairn, shown without having its coat pulled out (called stripping/rolling/plucking) to bring it down to the correct texture and length. Please see the quote below written not long after cairn terriers were accepted as an AKC recognized breed.... The cairn was NEVER meant to be a dog dependent of extensive grooming to make it look correct. I may not win - but I will proudly show that my cairns have correct coats developed in the whelping box - not on the grooming table!
